Energy bars for the hiker
Ingredients :
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 1 big can evaporated Carnation milk 2 % type
- 1/2 cup of dry cranberries
- 2 cups of dry raisins
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of peanut butter
- 1/2 cup of unsalted peanuts
- 3/4 cup of melted butter
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/2 cup of whole weat flour
- 1/2 cup of cereals like : All Bran or Bran Flake or Rice Krispies
- 1/2 cup of sesame seeds
Method :
- Put all the ingredients BUT THE MILK in a mixing bol, mix;
- Add the milk in the bowl, one spoon at a time;
- Lightly press the mix in a 13X10 po greased pyrex with a spatula;
- Bake in a preheated oven at 325F during 20-25 minutes, the top will be slightly brown;
- Cold completly before cutting in bars.
Important
Do not reduce the quantity of butter
Will give you around 16 bars;
Can be freezed but will appear softer after;
Wrap individually in a plastic film (like Saran Wrap) to be packed in lunches or backpacks.
